Session:

Essential Leadership Skills in Data and AI

In the Spotlight: Simonetta

What motivates you to present at the festival?

What is not to love about a festival that brings together smart and amazing women who know a ton about data and AI?

What is one person in your field of work that you admire and why?

Timnit Gebru: She was not afraid to speak up for an ethical approach to the development of AI tools, even if that meant putting her own career at risk.

Why would you recommend someone to join this field?

Tech and AI are excellent fields to have a career in. And Data is what powers any kind of AI solution. What is happening with GenAI solutions today is changing the way we work and live. It's both exciting and necessary for women to be part of shaping what this will look like for all of us.

What is the hottest topic/thing you have learned in the last few months, and why?

How you develop an idea for the impact you want to create, the vision you want to contribute to and shape, and root this in what is most important to you: your own values. From that place we can truly feel empowered and joyful about what we are a part of creating.

What is something funny that you have found out about the industry you are working in related to Data or AI?

Everyone thinks of data as something structured and logical, yet most teams I know experience dealing with data as confusing, incoherent or contradictory. Makes me laugh every time I think about it.

Why did you choose to give a talk about "Essential leadership skills in AI"?

When we build products with AI we will have an impact on the world. I want us as women to play a visionary role in shaping that impact our work has on humanity. I hope that the women coming to my session will leave inspired, empowered and ready to influence the vision and impact of the products they are a part of creating.

What’s there to learn for our attendees?

How you develop an idea for the impact you want to create, the vision you want to contribute to and shape, and root this in what is most important to you: your own values. From that place we can truly feel empowered and joyful about what we are a part of creating.

Who is this talk for?

Everyone working in Data and AI. Anybody working on products using Data or AI as part of their Tech Stack. Anybody (regardless of seniority or title) who has an interest in shaping the world we all live in together.
